Gilfach Farm Livery and Holiday Cottage

Diary - February 2014

End of Winter ????

Well, what can I say? It, the weather, continues to be "challenging". Oscar, however, is doing all he can to help.

The Horses

Because of the above, not-normal service persists. Opportunities for exercise, training, or just "nice rides out" are few and far between at the moment. Equine bellies are getting bigger, and hind quarters smaller! When the weather permits, our horse-course learners get out (in the manege) to learn new skills.
McGee has been gently introduced to the world of being a working horse (/pony). He is being broken (sorry - I hate that verb!) to harness, starting with learning about work in hand with me, and wearing the "gear"! At this early stage, McGee is bemused I think.

Other Animals

The chickens are NOT amused. In fact Jennifer, the hybrid, dropped all her feathers in protest of the awful weather, then felt chilly...

The Cottage and Cabin

Gilfach's holiday accommodation has just had its biennial check from the people at the tourist office. After a wee bit of extra effort, the Cottage and Cabin were declared to be of 4* standard, if (a) the cabin were to be bigger (nothing we can do about that), and (b) the cottage had more tiles in the bathroom (on the agenda already!). We were rather chuffed - here is a pic of the cottage today (joking!!! it was late summer 2010)

We hope to welcome you to our lovely farm very soon.
